ASHBURNHAM — Of the final four soldiers from Ashburnham who are being honored in this series, only Pvt. Joseph R. LaFrenier was a native of the town. He was born in South Ashburnham, he attended school there and worked at Davidson Manufacturing Co. in town.The other three soldiers had connections with the town, either by moving into Ashburnham with their family or by marrying girls from the community.Although many of them were not native-born residents, they were still memorialized on the town's World War II monument.
